“Every old building carries the memories of the people who lived around it.”
In 2025, we traveled to Lukang with a simple purpose — to document the beauty of Taiwan’s historical landscapes and the cultural stories hidden within everyday life.
Once one of Taiwan’s most important trading ports, Lukang preserves layers of history through its temples, traditional buildings, narrow streets, and generations of craftsmanship. Beyond the architecture itself, what makes these places meaningful are the people who continue to live, work, and maintain these traditions.
Through photography, we focused on capturing the relationship between space and people — from the details of aged brick walls and wooden structures to the vendors, craftsmen, and residents who continue to shape the rhythm of the town.
This self-initiated project reflects our belief that cultural preservation is not only about protecting historical structures, but also about remembering the human stories connected to them.
By documenting these moments, we hope to share another perspective of Taiwan — one built through time, craftsmanship, and the quiet continuation of everyday life.
