Ling Jiou Mountain — A Blessing Shared

About This Project

Sometimes, the greatest blessing is simply being present long enough to receive one.

Overview

During Ling Jiou Mountain’s 2026 Lunar New Year celebration, devotees gathered in the Golden Buddha Hall to receive prayers and blessings from a visiting Thai monk.

The ceremony brought people together through chanting, quiet reflection, and individual moments of blessing.

The Observation

The meaning of the ceremony was found in the exchange between the monk and each devotee.

Folded hands, closed eyes, and attentive expressions revealed the hope and sincerity carried into the hall.

Our Approach

We photographed from within the gathering while avoiding disruption to the ritual.

The images move between the monk’s presence, the collective prayer, and the personal moments of receiving a blessing.

The Outcome

The final photographs preserve both the dignity of the ceremony and the human connection within it.

Rather than recording only the ritual, the series captures what it felt like to be present.

Reflection

A blessing may last only a moment.

The feeling it leaves can remain much longer.
