Dance Forum Taipei brings contemporary dance beyond the theatre, introducing movement to schools across Taiwan.
This project followed one of those workshops at Qianhua Elementary School in Shimen, where dance became something every child could experience firsthand.
Dance is difficult to communicate through still images.
The challenge wasn’t documenting choreography—it was capturing energy.
Every frame needed to feel as active as the movement itself.
To exaggerate motion and draw viewers into the scene, we photographed the workshop with an ultra-wide 12–24mm lens.
Combined with low angles and diagonal compositions, each image places the audience inside the movement rather than watching from the sidelines.
The photographs capture more than a dance class.
They reveal confidence, curiosity, and the joy of discovering movement together.
A great dance photograph doesn’t freeze motion.
