Red changes with light, surface, and time.
This documentary photography study follows the different shades of red at Tainan Confucius Temple. Walls and architectural details become a way to look at the place closely, noticing how colour holds both the character of the building and the traces of time.
The photographs bring red surfaces into relation with stone, foliage, and shadow. Changes in texture and light give a familiar colour a different presence from one frame to the next.
Made as a personal travel study, the series records an experience of walking through the temple. Its attention stays with the details that make history feel present: a weathered wall, a stone opening, and the quiet relationship between a building and its surroundings.
