Shayokan — Light and Detail in a Historic House

An architectural photo essay at Shayokan, moving from its red-roofed exterior to timber corridors, framed openings and small interior details.

Project overview

Photographed for Fun Japan in 2023, the series uses wide interior views to describe the house and closer frames to study furniture, fittings and surface texture. Reflected light along the corridors connects the rooms into a continuous walk through the building.
